Emily Navarro

Ms. Navarro has a background in education and non-profit management and her current role is as the Education director of the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California’s education department. Currently, the Washoe tribe’s education department reaches three different school districts – Carson City, Douglas, and ACUSD due to the locations of Washoe communities and youth the department serves. She has also held the role of Program Coordinator at Nevada Urban Indians for their Partnership for Success program. Ms. Navarro has a passion for education and serving others, growing up in New York City most of the women in her family were teachers or in the field of higher education and she is proud to carry on this dedication to the field. She has taught science in New York City Title 1 DOE public schools, as well as taught in middle and elementary schools in Hawaii Title 1 DOE schools. She received her Masters in Education from Wagner College in 2015 and is a Doctoral Candidate, in the dissertation phase of her Ed.D. at Fairleigh Dickenson University. She is a licensed teacher and Special education teacher in the state of Nevada.
